King Alto Vintage Horn sale $1499

King Zephyr Alto Saxophone 1962

Vintage classic Saxophone made by the legendary King Company at their Cleveland USA plant.

With original King Mouthpiece, cap and Ligature and case

Made in 1962 (a very good year)

While the King horn today is a student model, the vintage King horns were much higher grade.

Serial Number 388,###

The sound of this horn is incredible. Other horn players that have played this Sax state it has the classic King tone, and can move softly in the low octave when needed, and also offer that huge gorgeous tone that just cannot be replicated by modern horns

Mechanically it has been well maintained and is in playing condition. The pads are older but functional. We are selling this horn “as is”. The buyer may play as is right out of the case, or have some minor adjustments made to their desire.

Physically, there is only one very small dent that can be removed (about the size of a thumb).

All of the Mother of Pearl buttons are attached and in great condition. There is some very minor plating wear, however the horn looks great and still shows the original King Stampings. The finish on this horn is original.

Comes as shown in the pictures. Has original neck, mouthpiece, ligature, "Alligator Skin" case wtih lock and handle.

This flute is unused and was a custom order. The flutist did not finalize payment, so you will get a very good deal.

This flute was never used as a demo, and has not been in a flute store for show or "open box". It has been the hands of the craftsperson, and of course my own to ensure it plays correctly.

True Handmade Flute
This is a one of a kind true handmade flute. It does feature soldered tone holes, and was made in Japan by a mastercraftsperson.

Feel
This is a very comfortable flute that produces a glorious tone. It is not heavy or bulky, yet has a nice mid wall construction. The C foot joint enables ease of high notes, and soldered tone holes ensure scale accuracy, and add more depth to overall tone. The flute has plenty of bass thus, C foot joint is very appropriate.

This is a lovely Yamaha Sterling Silver Flute model 561H. This flute is similar to today’s model 674H. I believe it to be a better flute than the current model (674H).

The 674H just does not compare. This flute has more internal resistance, and requires more wind to sing. It has a rich, deep voice, clear at all (4) octaves.

Condition

The key action is fast, even and quiet. The keys are tight, with no side to side “shift”. The spring action is nice, fast and soft.

It is very clean flute that has been well maintained. Our professional flute technician will go through this flute and make all adjustments, replace the head cork, etc prior to shipping. Please allow an added 5 to 7 business days.

Who should play this flute
This flute feels much more substantial, and is "more flute" than the 674H. It does need ample wind and spin to make it sing.

This flute would be perfect for the adult or advancing student that has enough wind, and wind control.

A Jazz professional, Conservatory Student, Adult amature player, advanced student.

I would not recommend this flute for a new(er) player, due to the weight and wind requirements (they just won’t enjoy this flute).

This flute is lighter in wall thickness, and has a very nice tone. It is solid a handcrafted solid sterling silver flute, including the keys and mechanisms. This flute really sounds nice, and moves quickly.

The keys and mechanisms moveup and down quickly, and the 12kt gold springs allow for a fast soft touch. This flute has a K1 cut thin wall head joint, which moves the flute up and down with ample volume and projection. Not a slug. This flute sings with rich full tone.

This is a lovely solid silver (head joint / body / b foot) Pearl Elegante Flute MADE IN JAPAN.

While we are not fans of the new Pearl flutes, those made in Japan are much higher in quality, sound better, perform and hold up over time.

This flute will receive a partial overhaul (disassembly, cleaning, adjusting, change of some or most pads and corks, etc) prior to sale.

Altus Prof 907 RE Flute flawless

This is a lovely Professional grade Altus flute. It is an open hole flute, with offset G, C foot joint and split E mechanism. The holes have plugs which are shown in the picture, which can easily be removed.

It has a fantastic tone from low to high, with a very quiet high E and smooth fast key action.

Altus is one of my personal favorite brands. I refer to the Altus 807 and 907 as "pocket flutes". They are easier to play, very comfortable to hold, on the lighter side, yet require skill and dedication. The intonation is excellent, and the flute sings with a rich responsive voice from low to high.

The Altus flutes are some of my favorite instruments on today's market. They play with wondeful accurate intonation, fast and flawless key action, and a rich fluid tone with quick response.

They are very durable and sturdy instruments, well made in Japan. There are Altus flutes made in Taiwan (and you must check to ensure that the Atlus you purchase is stamped "Made in Japan" so you receive the highest quality instrument.

This flute is suitable for many players. Amature adult players will fiind a flute to begin on and become much better over time. Jazz players will find an instrument that is durable and suitable for the road and outdoor playing, and one in which the notes will pop out with little warm up.

Students can use this to advance their skills, and grow into over time. The more advanced player can use as a back up instrument, and the conservatory player can use to study flute in a university setting.

Our price on this flute is a deal. It has little play, and also features the split E mechanisms which adds about $500 to the price when purchased new. The MSRP of this instrument when purchased new (or even demo) is approximately $3500.00. Like the Muramatsu brand flutes, the Altus brand does not go on sale as do many other brands.

Who Should Play This Flute
This flute meets a very wide variety of flutists needs. While it features closed holes and C foot, it is considered to be a true Prof. grade flute. The head joint provides ease of play and creates a warm full tone from low to high. The keys and mechanisms are fluid, even and quiet.

This flute can be played by an adult or new flutist, and the new flutist will enjoy the flute while becomming better and better as they practice.

Lovely Jupiter diMedici Sterling Silver Flute

This is a very gently played Jupiter di Medici Sterling Silver Flute. We sold this to an adult player (brand new), who after a few years just did not find much time to play, and thus requested we sell this on his behalf.

Our technician has gone through this flute, there are no dings or dents, not much use at all.
