Crafted from aged grenadilla wood and matched with a hand crafted grenadilla headjoint,along with the superior intonation inherent in the exclusive Burkart scale, this Burkart & Phelan Global piccolo is truly outstanding

This piccolo is in perfect condition. No adjustments will be needed, it is in perfect playing condition and ready to be played right out of the case. You would never know that it has ever been played!

Additional features:

It produces a very rich, clean, projecting tone, with easy control of dynamics. Lillian Burkart personally oversees the cutting of every headjoint.

French style leather covered case, Altieri case cover and cleaning rod included.

This flute meets a very wide variety of flutists needs. While it features closed holes and C foot, it is considered to be a true Prof. grade flute. The head joint provides ease of play and creates a warm full tone from low to high. The keys and mechanisms are fluid, even and quiet.

Yamaha 561H

This is a lovely Yamaha Sterling Silver Flute model 561H. This flute is similar to today’s model 674H. I believe it to be a better flute than the current model (674H).

This flute was previously owned and played by a professional (back up flute). It is very clean. There are no dings or dents, just minor surface scuffs from the very light polish it received. There is no tarnish.

Our pictures do not show how wonderful this flute really looks. It is pristine and has a gorgeous rich full tone.

The 674H just does not compare. This flute has more internal resistance, and requires more wind to sing. It has a rich, deep voice, clear at all (4) octaves.

The key action is fast, even and quiet. The keys are tight, with no side to side “shift”. The spring action is nice, fast and soft.

Who should play this flute
This flute feels much more substantial, and is "more flute" than the 674H. It does need ample wind and spin to make it sing.

This flute would be perfect for the adult or advancing student that has enough wind, and wind control.

A Jazz professional, Conservatory Student, Adult amature player, advanced student.

I would not recommend this flute for a new(er) player, due to the weight and wind requirements (they just won’t enjoy this flute).

Solid Sterling VQ Powell hand cut head joint with mother of pearl crown inlay

Made in Boston, MA USA.

Solid sterling silver. Blemish free. US Mid thin wall

This pictures shows the cut of the embouchure hole. This head joint has is square in cut, and is a more aggressive cut. It moves the flute up down and all around like a BMW.

The notes pop out from low to high without sounding harsh. We like this head joint mated to our 1207 Altus HW, and several other flutes.

This is not one of Powell's new and more common cuts i.e. Philharmonic, Venti, etc. It is a hand made / hand cut from the 1980's, from a true hand made soldered tone hole flute.
