Solid Sterling handmade Japan Flute $2699

Now the Cantabile Flute

This is a Solid Silver including keys and mechanisms. Many sellers these days call a flute "solid silver" when in fact the keys & mechanisms are silver plated. Solid silver keys and mechanisms allow for more color in your tone, and are easier to overhaul (you can "bend" silver back in place). Thus you can expect this flute to last and last if treated properly.

How it Plays
This flute is a pleasure to play. It has a gorgeous rich tonal palatte, with ample projection and a fast clear response without any buzz or difficulty in placing notes into tune.

It produces ample volume and projection, has wonderful reasonance, is on current pitch or scale (A=442 Hz), is the model made just prior to the Cantible, Made In Japan.

Suggested For
This would make the perfect flute for the Professional, Set Up flutist, Jazz flutist, or adult who wishes a high quality well made solid silver flute that moves well while sounding rich and full.

Quality
I find the older Pearl Flutes Made in Japan to be of higher quality, and all are hand selected by our Company before we take in to perform work or offer to our customers. This is a gem, and feels and performs just as described, high in quality, fast in mechanism, clear in tone, with lovely sonority.

I am not a fan of many of the newer Pearl flutes as the overall quality is not superb. This one is.

More details
This flute featurs

Solid Silver Construction
Handmade head joint with wings*
Open holes
Inline G
French Pointed Key Arms
B foot joint with c gizmo key
French Case & Outer Bag
A=442 Hz

This flute seems like a Powell design; albeit slightly smaller in tube size. The French Pointed Key Arms are slightly flatter allowing you to fly through the passages with a very light touch.

This is a Japanese made Japanese mid wall thickness (.015) however the it has a slightly smaller tube size than flutes, which makes it easier to hold, lighter weight in the hands, requires less air, and most importantly place notes n tune.

Flutes that are loo large in tube for you or too heavy, sound lovely as well but do have such a huge range from ppppppp to FFFFFF. Unless you have the skills and lungs of larger Professional (Sir Galaway), or the controlable jet airstream that many have acquired from years of training, you may find yourself going very flat on the low notes or squeezing your lips and face to hit the high notes on larger flutes.

This flute has wonderful sonority, and movement. It can zoon up and down from low to high while maintaining a gorgeous fluid rich and lovely tone. There is no "buzz" most likely due to the fine head joint.

While the body and foot joint on this flute are wonderful and high quality, much of the flutes tone and performance is due to the lovely very well made head joint. This head joint is exceptional, well cut, and has what are known as Adler wings or simply wings.

The wings are small, and this is a the wave style. The wings allow for more focus, sound and brilliance. Thus the flutist may focus more on making music than any buzz in their tone, lack of focus, or aiming their jet fast airstream to compensate for unevenness throughout the ranges.

The head joint alone is a pleasure to play. Several custom flute makers still offer custom head joints with wings, Lafin and David Williams being two that come to mind.

You may view an example of David Williams head joint, known as the Williams with wings at this URL:

http://www.williamsflutes.com/images_100/flute/winged-headjoint.jpg

http://www.williamsflutes.com/images_100/flute/winged-headjoint.jpg

Please contact Winds101 for more information

Terms & Conditions of Sale
We ship worldwide

We typically use UPS for domestic shipments

Preparation
This is a pre owned flute, overhauled. Before we ship any flute to our customers, we have our expert and certified Straubinger pad technician go through the instrument. This may delay shipment depending on the flute you order.

Audition Period
We allow a 3 day from receipt in home (or with teacher) audition period. On the 4th day the flute is considered sold unless we agree otherwise. This is the standard business practice in the flute industry unless stated otherwise by the seller.

Please do not take this flute to band, performance, or polish, make any changes during this time period.

Shop Reviews
While we encourage our customers not familiar with instruments, to have a technician review the instrumen if desired, we cannot reimburse for "shop charges".

A technician may take your instrument for a few days, and go through it, perhaps making a small adjustment as may technical persons views things differently. This is standard in the flute industry.

If you have any problem, please contact us or have your technician contact us for discussion.

Contact Us
Please contact us for more information.
Wm. S. Haynes Handmade Perfect SALE $4599

Handmade solid sterling silver William S. Haynes Flute

Lovely William S. Haynes Flute, with open holes, inline G, white gold springs, french key arms, soldered tone holes, B foot joint, case. Modern Scale A 442 hz.

This flute is simply fantastic. It was recently the primary flute of a Prof. Orchestral flutists (Julliard Grad) and well, it is just a fantastic instrument.

It was recently serviced and is MINT overall per the National Flute Association Standards.

The embouchure hold is larger, sharper cut and allows thsi flute to play with large full volume voice when needed. The Strauginger pads enhance projection however, this flute does not sound overly bright or "echo" as some can with Straubinger pads.

The .016 mid wall solid sterling flute can product a huge amount of texture and color to the tone; it has a palatte that is so large, an artist could create almost anything from what it offers.

It is not a difficult flute to play albeit will play and sound better the better the flutist.

This is one not to pass up. It is a stand out among flutes.

VINTAGE CONICAL BORE GRENADILLA BOEHM FLUTE

FRENCH VINTAGE CONICAL BORE FLUTE

This is a wonderful example of French flute craftsmanship. It is a fine collectable, as well as a playable enjoyable flute.

A grenadilla wooden flute, conical bore with nickel silver keys, Boehm system with closed G#. This gorgeous flute features keywork dated to the romantic quality and period of the earlier simple system flutes.

The quality and key configuration bring it into the Louis Lot tradition.

1). The A, G, F, E and D keys are identical to the open ring keys of the clarinet while the rest of the key work is traditional French pointed arm key-cups. The thumb configuration is truly modern but delicately crafted to conform to the sweep of the flute body.

2). The sounding length is 586 mm which puts it in the A=440 range.

3). The embouchure is original and in pristine condition.

OVERHAUL
This flute has undergone a complete overhauled

Fine Details
Fully disassembled

All new natural cork tenon wrappings as well as all new cork bumpers and crown stopper.

The body wood has been thoroughly cleaned and re-oiled

The nickel silver parts (including the posts) were ultrasonically rid of grease, grime and tarnish. The crown mechanism is fully functional.

The pads are white kid leather* with a felt underpinning and have been installed using the historically correct and time proven “melted shellac” method.

The case is original and fully functional (I repaired the torn hinge material and installed new brass hasps as well as two small brass hinges to guarantee the security of the lids closure).

This is both a fine collectible as well as playable flute.

*Expensive, maintain seal, do not dry out

This is a very old, unique and well made flute. We could not find a makers name however the quality is outstanding. It may have been stamped at one time and sanded or worn off.

Solid Sterling Silver Haynes Professional Flute

This is a gorgeous Solid Sterling Silver Prof. Haynes flute (pre - Eastman Strings), with open holes, inline G, gold springs, B foot joint.

This is one of the few Commercial Model Haynes that we have come across, and made prior to the purchase of the William S. Haynes Company by Eastman Strings.

It is a professional flute, differentiated from the more expensive handmade / soldered tone hole models with Y-arms replacing the french pointed key arms.

Specifications
Solid Sterling Silver Flute, including keys & mechs
Open holes
Inline G
B foot joint
12kt gold springs
rolled, drawn tone holes
c-gizmo or high C facilitator key
French Case
A=442 hz
French Case

Condition
This is a gorgeous flute in fantastic condition. It would now be the Q4 however, was made in the USA in a much smaller volume, semi handmade professional grade flute.

This flute sounds fantastic, and the key action is very smooth and even. It sings from low to high with that sweet classic tone of all pre - Eastman Strings William S. Haynes flutes.

Although it was made in 1989, it does not look or play like an "old flute". This flute feels almost new in my hands; as does the key action and overall physical structure.

It has new(er) pads and corks; and will be fine tuned just prior to shipping.

Terms & Conditions of Sale
Global customers welcome

Payment
We price for cash; Credit / Debit and Paypal please add 3 percent.

Shipping
We ship via UPS fully insured, delivery signature required.

Acceptance Period
We provide our customers a 3-day in home acceptance period following sale of flute.

Please call or email with questions

Winds101
flutes@winds101.com
www.winds101.com
(248) 885 2583

Yamaha 385 (now the 381H)

Pre owned / serviced by technician

This is a highly regarded, versatile, durable flute. This flute was made in Japan (not indonesia), in low volume for the Japanese market and is very high quality. It will late a lifetime if taken care of.

This flute needs a bit more air than the current model 381H, but does reward the flutist with a deeper fuller more colorful tone that is not as bright and airy.

It is besst suited for a player with a few years under their belt.

This flute is also high versatile, and will take on the characteristics of a different head joint should the player wish to customize their tone in the future. This flute has a wonderful tone now with the CY intermediate sterling silver head joint, and will sound very different with a higher grade head joint.

Featuring
Sterling Silver CY cut headjoint
Silver plated body / B foot / keys & mechanisms
Open hole
Inline G
Yamaha Hard Shell Case
Cleaning Rod
Plugs (if needed)
Made In Japan
Japanese .015 wall thickness

Please contact us for more information

Terms and Conditions of Sale

We ship worldwide

We accept cash, verifiable cashiers checks, and all major debit and credit cards (please add 3% for debit / credit) as we price for cash sale for fairness to all of our customers.

We provide a 3 day acceptance period for flutes purchased through our Winds101 store.

Please contact us for more information

Liz
Winds101
www.winds101.com
www.winds101.zenfolio.com
248 885 2583

Liz
Winds101
www.winds101.com
248 885 2583

Rare French 19th Century Classic Flute Farfelier Devred $2299

Farfelier Devred D Flute
France, Circa 1850
Overhauled
Mahogany Wood Case

ONCE UPON A TIME long before our current flute design...
This is a fine example of a French made simple system flute, the flute style used long before the current design, or what you now most likely use, we invented by Boehm (& Mendler).

It was used during the time of baroque or classical era, about the time of Bach. You may view the listings of composers and time periods at the URL below. For those that are not familiar with this style or old flute, just imagine playing Bach or Telemann using this very simple instrument!!

TODAY
Many flutists have at least one Simple System Flute. They are often now called Irish, Baroque or 19th Century Classical flutes. They are collected, and also played in many forms and styles. Flutists are playing to challenge their capability. They wish to play the correct style instrument for the time period in re enactments (Colonial Williamsburg, VA), and small group baroque settings. Others use to play Irish music and some to create music using a different scale using 1/8 or 1/16 notes.

One very nice Cuban flutist recently played Cuban music using one of these flutes, wrapping strings around the holes to create 1/8 and 1/16 notes. My jaw dropped. It was fantastic; Cuban music in the 4-8 octave fast paced, with spunk and Latin beat.

PLAY THIS FLUTE
This flute will do just about anything; it just needs a player at the helm with an airstream and talent. No reason to spend alot of money on a new Irish flute, in the key of D - buy the original!!

If you are a flute or music teacher, you may want to have this flute or one similar to hand to your students. A flutist that can play on a Simple System flute most likely can master any flute. It will make that flutists a better musician as to play you must know what the notes sound like and really be able to use your wind and airstream.

TONE
This very finely made French Flute, Simple System, Rosewood, unlined, with the traditional resistant French oval embouchure is very light in weight, and produces a gorgeous tone.

While light in weight and small in size compared to many new modern flutes of today, it is not a very easy flute to play almost like a kids recorder or toy, it is a very fine flute that takes some skill and will perform !!.

With wind and speed, this flute sings with a gorgeous tone. Those familiar with the French Oval embouchure know how resistant it is. This flute has the French Oval embouchure, and it is all original, no cracks and unmodified from the day the flute was made.

This flute is a very high grade instrument, it is the first flute that we have come across that has no need for a tuning barrel and was not made with a tuning barrel, as the intonation is built into the flute. It is also very unique in that is HP or high pitch with head joint fully pushed in A 452 Hz). With the head joint pulled out, you can play around A 440 Hz. Thus, this flute has a range A 440 Hz to A 452 Hz, unaltered from its original design.

As most know, pitch was not established until approx. 1930; most flute makers and flutists were creative and just "did their own thing". High pitch was fashionable in Europe, esp. London whereas low pitch A 435 Hz or so was favored in the USA.

This design is most creative and superb/ Very nice to have a flute that can span this range of pitch, in Rosewood with the French Oval Embouchure. You just do not find these every day. You can have one made, a reproduction, for about $2000 - but why buy a reproduction when you can buy the real deal that plays as it should, and is unmodified less pads, corks?

We have other German and French style Simple System flutes. Most are not worth as much as this one however, you may enjoy a lower cost vintage 19th Century flute that plays well (overhauled). We are not experts at all but if we can help, please feel free to call us with questions (248) 885 2583

OVERHAUL..its in the details
First, we started with a very finely designed (superior designed / engineered / made) flute.

This flute arrived to us in good condition (not playable), but with no cracks or damage It was fully disassembled and fully restored.

The head joint is unlined (there is no tuning barrel) and the tenon is firmly seated and airtight.

The embouchure hole is original and in perfect condition. The crown mechanism is fully functional with a new natural cork stopper.

All the pads are new white kid leather and all the cork bumpers natural cork All tenon corks have been replaced with all natural solid cork.

The axles, posts and keys were ultrasonically cleaned with the axles being oiled prior to reassembly

All of the spring / actions have been checked for ease of play and solid closure of keys

The body rings are tight and in perfect conditon.

The case is the original mahogany and has been relined to accommodate the flute perfectly.

The lock is functional but the key has been lost to history but a competent locksmith could either find or make one to fit.

Altus Prof 907 RE Flute flawless

This is a lovely Professional grade Altus flute. It is an open hole flute, with offset G, C foot joint and split E mechanism. The holes have plugs which are shown in the picture, which can easily be removed.

It has a fantastic tone from low to high, with a very quiet high E and smooth fast key action.

Altus is one of my personal favorite brands. I refer to the Altus 807 and 907 as "pocket flutes". They are easier to play, very comfortable to hold, on the lighter side, yet require skill and dedication. The intonation is excellent, and the flute sings with a rich responsive voice from low to high.

Technical features:
Sold silver hand cut Altus head joint
Silver plated body C foot joint keys and mechanisms
French or open hole
French pointed key arms
offset G
Split E mechanisms
Case
Japanese mid wall (.015)
On the new and improved WB Scale A 442 Hz
Modern pitch A = 442 Hertz

The Altus flutes are some of my favorite instruments on today's market. They play with wondeful accurate intonation, fast and flawless key action, and a rich fluid tone with quick response.

They are very durable and sturdy instruments, well made in Japan. There are Altus flutes made in Taiwan (and you must check to ensure that the Atlus you purchase is stamped "Made in Japan" so you receive the highest quality instrument.

This flute is suitable for many players. Amature adult players will fiind a flute to begin on and become much better over time. Jazz players will find an instrument that is durable and suitable for the road and outdoor playing, and one in which the notes will pop out with little warm up.

Students can use this to advance their skills, and grow into over time. The more advanced player can use as a back up instrument, and the conservatory player can use to study flute in a university setting.

Our price on this flute is a deal. It has little play, and also features the split E mechanisms which adds about $500 to the price when purchased new. The MSRP of this instrument when purchased new (or even demo) is approximately $3500.00. Like the Muramatsu brand flutes, the Altus brand does not go on sale as do many other brands.

Terms and Conditions of Sale
The following terms apply to instruments sold directly from our Winds101.com store.

Payment
We accept all major credit and debit cards directly via phone (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover).
Jupiter Open Hole Flute

This is a lovely Jupiter Open hole C foot flute. It is all silver plated, model 511R. As you can see, it look mint showroom in most areas. There are a few blemishs, dings and a tiny dent that does not effect performance. Your student may dent, ding and scratch in school band (they always do), so perhaps save a few hundred dollars or more, and buy this lovely flute with case and cleaning rod.

It plays lovely low to high.
