Lovely vintage Rittershausen fluteThis is a pre – 1945, wooden flute that has been overhauled. It plays very well at A 440 Hz, in the key of C, and is ready for the next flautist.
Note the lovely tear drop pinky key, sturdy but lovely french key arms, and elongated A flat / G sharp key. All are fine details of the Rittershausen handmade wooden flutes (Germany).
Value lies in the name brand of Rittershausen, the emblems that are visible and easy to see, and the lovely tone that this flute produces.
About Rittershausen Wooden FlutesRittershausen was a very famous flute-maker, apprenticed with Boehm. Current flute-makers refer with pride to their founders training under Rittershausen, such as Mollenhauer, Hammig, and Gemeinhardt. Rittershausen flutes are on display in museums, such as the German National Museum and the National Music museum.
To be played, and collected.
ConditionThis flute was recently overhauled, with all new pads and corks. It was not sanded deeply, and thus the original carvings showing the Rittershausen emblem is visible on all pieces. It has all new pads and corks.
The embouchure cut is very sharp and excellent. You do not need “super chops” to play this flute.
Pitch Plays at A = 440 hz, in the key of C. This is the preferred pitch for the modern wooden flute.
ValuationRittershauen flutes, like the Rudall Carte of London, will always be in demand, both for playing and collecting. The value continues to appreciate. This is both a playable instrument that can be used for years and years, and also a collectable.
This flute will outplay, perform an outlast many of the wooden flutes on today's market.
